So I hope that in the future, there will be enough synergy between the two projects to pool our strengths. Now the differences between golem/SONM and Iexec are pretty huge, whereas Golem/SONM show much more similarities. Also the product category going to golem is weird, I would say its a tie between sonm and iexec, because both have some sort of general purpose framework already running (iexec dappstore&sdk / sonm testnet). Whereas golem only has an alpha version for one application, the release version of which has been delayed since nearly one year now. Differences are the approaches: golem focuses on a specific use case, rendering iexec focuses on powering decentralized applications, anything can be deployed.
